Monday News & Notes from the Toyota NHRA U.S. Nationals

Day 1 Recap

The Toyota NHRA U.S. Nationals kicked off on Monday with a full day of qualifying at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. In Top Fuel, Brittany Force set the pace with a 3.643-second pass at 327.53 mph. Steve Torrence and Mike Salinas followed close behind with 3.646- and 3.649-second passes, respectively.

In Funny Car, Robert Hight led the way with a 3.841-second pass at 333.92 mph. John Force and Matt Hagan were right behind him with 3.843- and 3.846-second passes, respectively.

In Pro Stock, Erica Enders was the quickest with a 6.553-second pass at 211.82 mph. Aaron Stanfield and Kyle Koretsky were second and third with 6.557- and 6.562-second passes, respectively.

Day 2 Preview

Qualifying continues on Tuesday with two more sessions scheduled for each category. The top 16 cars in each category will advance to eliminations on Sunday.

The weather forecast for Tuesday is mostly sunny with temperatures in the mid-80s. The track conditions should be ideal for fast times.

Other News & Notes

In addition to the on-track action, there are plenty of other activities happening at the U.S. Nationals this week.

  • The NHRA Fan Fest is open all week and features a variety of interactive exhibits, games, and activities.
  • The NHRA Museum is also open all week and features a collection of historic NHRA cars and artifacts.
  • There will be a concert on Saturday night featuring country music star Brantley Gilbert.

The Toyota NHRA U.S. Nationals is the biggest event on the NHRA calendar, and it's sure to be a great week of racing and entertainment.
