Justin Pierre James Trudeau PC MP (born December 25, 1971) is a Canadian politician who has served as the 23rd Prime Minister of Canada since 2015. He is the eldest son of former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and Margaret Trudeau.

Political Career

Trudeau was first elected to the House of Commons in 2008, representing the riding of Papineau. He became leader of the Liberal Party in 2013 and led the party to victory in the 2015 federal election, ending the Conservative Party's nearly decade-long reign.

24 Sussex Drive: The Prime Minister's Residence

The Prime Minister's Residence at 24 Sussex Drive is the official residence of the Prime Minister of Canada. It is located in the New Edinburgh neighborhood of Ottawa, Ontario. The house was originally built in 1868 and has been the home of every Prime Minister since 1951.

History of 24 Sussex Drive

The house was designed by architect Thomas Fuller and built by James Maclaren, a local lumber merchant. It was originally called Gorffwysfa, which is Welsh for "resting place." In 1943, the house was purchased by the federal government and renamed 24 Sussex Drive.

Architecture and Features

24 Sussex Drive is a large stone house with a restrained formal classicism style. The house features a three-story central block with two two-story wings. The exterior is made of limestone, and the roof is slate. The house has 35 rooms, including 10 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms.
